Know Everything about Sharad Ritu..

Sharad Ritu may sound like a mystery to us all, but once I shed light on this subject, it may not seem as scary as before. Sharad Ritu is a season that ranges from Mid November to Mid November during which due to the sudden exposure to sunlight after the rainy season, aggravates Pitta Dosha in the body. In simpler terms it gives way to problems such as acidity, headaches, skin diseases etc.

It sounds worrisome, I KNOW! But don't you worry, there are a range of solutions that will zap these problems away.

  • Intake of ghee aids in the reduction of pitta dosha, it also reduces dry skin problems
  • Here is an excuse for you to chew and munch on those guilty treats - Sweet, astringent tastes are recommended to reduce pitta dosha
  • Avoid consumption of very spicy or oily edibles
  • Caffeine aggravates these problems, so please KEEP OFF THE CAFFEINE!!
  • Intake of milk and milk products except yogurt is recommended
  • AS difficult as this sounds, please do eat in moderation as the digestive fire would be weak during this season.
  • Here is a long long looooong list of things that should be consumed. Have fun. Rice, barley, wheat, green gram, sugar, Amlaki, Patol, honey, grapes, milk and milk products like butter, ghee etc., sugarcane and its preparations should be consumed.
  • WATER AS ALWAYS IS A MUST! DO NOT IGNORE THIS POINT BECAUSE IT IS SHORT
  • Further adding to the point above drinking water fortified with camphor and Chandan is beneficial. It gives a natural and beneficial calming as well as cooling effect to the troubled system.

Liiiiifestyle Changes

Please do follow them. We mean it. Trust me, they shouldn't be ignored. Don't be lazy!!!!

  • Pearls have a cooling effect on the body, use as required
  • Avoid lots of exposure to the sun
  • Use of Sheetali sheetkari pranayama (Not really sure what this is? Look it up!!) is beneficial
  • Substances with HOT POTENCY, Kshaar, curd, oil, liquor with high alcohol percentage have to be avoided.

THAT'S ALL!! FOLLOW THESE STEPS, AND YOU'RE AS GOOD AS NEW
