Ayurveda For Vertigo

Vertigo is a prevalent condition marked by persistent dizziness and a spinning sensation when moving the head. It is brought on by a body-wide imbalance that is predisposed as a result of inner ear problems. When performing tasks like working, sprinting, climbing stairs, sitting still, or taking a walk, the inner ear is in charge of keeping the system stable. Thus, when benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Meniere’s disease, or vestibular neuritis trigger vertigo, fluids, infections, and high pressure clog the inner ear, making a person feel weak and dizzy.

The Ayurvedic term for vertigo is “Bhrama,” which implies that it is frequently experienced in random rotating or swaying episodes brought on by the aggravation of Vata and Pitta doshas. It causes a host of unpleasant symptoms, such as headaches, uncontrollable perspiration, nausea, vomiting, falls, loss of consciousness, foggy vision, slurred speech, moving unsteadily and many more, which significantly reduce productivity at work and at home. Ayurveda for vertigo provides a lot of natural remedies that can help in controlling the problem. These potent plants are rich in beneficial phytonutrients that control tridoshic harmony, decrease vertigo symptoms, and restore physical equilibrium.

Natural Remedies in Ayurveda for Vertigo

Kaunch Beej – With copious levels of the amino acid levodopa, which boosts brain activity and also balances the three doshas of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, kaunch beej is an excellent neuroprotective herb. One teaspoon of kaunch beej powder along with one small glass of warm milk can be consumed to relieve vertigo and ease headache pain.

Shankapushpi – Shankapushpi is rich in brain-boosting alkaloids and can lessen risky spinning movements while maintaining inner ear balance. After dinner at night, consuming a soothing decoction of 2 grammes of shankapushpi powder soaked in a cup of warm water significantly reduces the unsteady vertigo symptoms.

Amalaki – The common Indian gooseberry, also known as amla or Amalaki, contains a lot of vitamin C, an antioxidant that prevents harmful free radicals from entering the brain and improves the functioning of the nervous system. The painful vertigo symptoms of nausea and migraine are reduced and the inner ear balance is restored by ingesting a modest amount of amla juice with two teaspoons of honey twice daily.

Jatiphala – Myristicin, a remarkable bioactive substance found in nutmeg commonly known as jatiphala or jaiphal, supports brain functioning. Ingesting a mixture of 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tsp of cumin powder, and 1 tsp of nutmeg powder with meals twice a day significantly reduces unsteady movements in vertigo and increases productivity.

Guduchi – Guduchi is a rich source of antioxidants that improve mood by elevating neurotransmitter functioning and normalising aggravated vata and pitta doshas. These antioxidants also improve cognitive abilities such as memory, reasoning, and attention. Every morning, two to three tablespoons of Guduchi kashaya, a mixture of coriander and neem extracts, can be consumed 30 minutes before breakfast to reduce body trembling and tingling.
