You must strengthen Vata’s opposing properties of warmth and dampness to balance its cold and airy characteristics. The summer season brings in a lot of warm and dry air, so the focus should be on moisture by including more hydrating foods and drinks in your diet and keeping your skin moisturised. To avoid constipation, eat more foods that are high in oil and moisture. Make sure to eat and drink regularly, to keep the Vata in check. Engage in yoga and relaxing activities. Massage the skin to keep it nourished and hydrated.


A person with Pitta Dosha should follow the principle of opposites during Summer, which means that to cool down the fire element, one should indulge in cooling activities. One should avoid going out in the sun and make sure to stay hydrated throughout the day. Consume light food and avoid having hot, spicy, fried, and salty foods in the season. Practice cooling postures of yoga and Sitali Pranayam to keep the mind and body calm.


Summer is the season of Kapha. Increase your intake of naturally bitter, drying, and spicy foods to help warm up your digestion and get rid of any cold and damp congestion that has built up over the winter months.

Eat spicy and warm curries and include spices like ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon. Also, drink stimulating herbal teas. Stay away from frozen, cold and refrigerated foods. During summer, stay active and integrate energising activities into the daily routine. Ashtanga yoga or taking a walk in nature could be a great activity as well.
